Best Louis de Funès films

The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob leads the Louis de Funès ranking with 1522 ELO points over 98 duels, ahead of Delusions of Grandeur and Don't Look Now... We're Being Shot At!

The podium is tightly contested: just 27 points separate the top from rank 2, while rank 3 sits at 1494 ELO, only 1 point behind Delusions of Grandeur. The sharpest drop emerges between ranks 3 and 4, where Don't Look Now... We're Being Shot At! edges ahead of Oscar by 66 ELO points, marking the clearest dividing line in the ranking. The Sucker rounds out the top 5 with 1406 ELO after 137 duels, the highest duel count among the leaders. At the opposite end, the bottom three reveal lesser-known entries from de Funès' filmography: Fripouillard et Cie at rank 47, Une Souris Chez les Hommes at 48, and La Folle Aventure de Louis de Funès closing the ranking at 933 ELO. These titles, each with win rates between 32% and 35%, suggest a clear consensus on which films have aged less gracefully in the actor's catalog.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
