Best Superman movies

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice wins 68% of its duels and tops the Superman ranking ahead of Man of Steel.

The podium reflects a clear preference for Zack Snyder's vision of the character. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice edges out Man of Steel by 31 ELO points, while Zack Snyder's Justice League claims third place with 1189 points. The sharpest divide appears between rank 3 and rank 4, where a 140-point gap separates Zack Snyder's Justice League from Superman Returns. That gap suggests the community draws a firm line between Snyder's trilogy and earlier interpretations. Superman Returns sits at the bottom with 1049 ELO and a 22% win rate over 23 duels, indicating limited support compared to the top three. Man of Steel holds second place with 1265 points and a 59% win rate after 29 duels, while Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice maintains its lead with 1296 points across 22 duels.

This ranking draws on 162 duels submitted by 37 players across 4 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. Each duel pits two Superman films head-to-head, and the ELO score reflects accumulated wins and losses. The results capture crowd opinion, not critical consensus. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
