Scariest Saw movies ranking

688 duels later, Saw III is still #1 in the Saw ranking, with the original Saw close behind at 1350 ELO points.

Only 3 ELO points separate the top two, but a sharper divide opens below the podium: 85 points stand between Saw II in third place and Saw V in fourth. The franchise's debut film holds firm at #2 with a 75% win rate across 12 duels, matching the performance of its successor at the top. Meanwhile, Spiral: From the Book of Saw sinks to the bottom with 1062 ELO points and a 30% win rate, suggesting the community found little terror in the series' attempted reinvention. Saw VI sits just above it, clustering the final entries in a low-scoring pack that never threatened the originals.

This ranking draws from 688 duels by 38 players, spread across 9 contenders from the franchise. The data was updated on 12 October 2026. Head to the Saw TopList on VAINKEURZ to cast your own votes and reshape the order: every duel adjusts the ELO scores, and the next update could push a middle-ranked film into podium range or confirm the dominance of the early sequels.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
