Goriest Scream movies ranked

215 ELO points separate Scream 4 from Scream 2 at the top of the goriest Scream movie ranking, after 173 duels.

The original Scream claims the top spot with 1386 ELO points and an 81% win rate across 27 duels, asserting itself as the franchise's bloodiest entry. Yet the widest margin in the ranking appears one step lower: Scream 4 holds second place with 1282 points, leaving a 215-point chasm between itself and third-ranked Scream 2. Below that gap, the bottom two contenders sit almost tied, with Scream 3 trailing Scream 2 by just 5 ELO points despite a lower win rate of 27%. The tight race at the bottom suggests the community sees little difference in gore levels between the second and third sequels, while the original stands apart as the clear victor.

This ranking draws on 173 duels and input from 37 players who weighed the franchise's four films against one another. The data was updated on 12 October 2026. Head to VAINKEURZ to cast your own votes and shift the standings: every duel refines the hierarchy and brings the ranking closer to the community's collective judgment on which Scream installment delivers the most visceral thrills.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
