Best Star Wars lightsaber colors

2855 duels later, Purple holds the top spot in the Star Wars lightsaber color ranking, with Blue trailing by just 19 ELO points.

The podium delivers a tight race: Purple edges ahead with 1315 ELO, while Blue sits at 1296 and Green at 1274. The sharpest divide in the ranking appears between ranks 3 and 4, where 51 ELO points separate Green from Red. This gap marks the clearest boundary in the standings, splitting the traditional Jedi colors from the Sith red. Purple's dominance proves that Mace Windu's signature hue resonates beyond its rarity in the films, claiming 60 percent of its duels. Blue and Green, wielded by Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda, follow closely but cannot overtake the violet blade. The bottom of the ranking reveals a struggle for recognition: Black, the unique Darksaber, lands in last place with 1050 ELO despite its narrative weight in The Mandalorian and Clone Wars, suggesting voters favor the classic spectrum over outliers. Yellow and Orange also fall short, relegated to the lower half.

This ranking draws from 2855 duels involving 183 players who weighed in on 8 contenders, last updated on 10 October 2026. The battle over lightsaber colors mirrors the fandom's attachment to specific Jedi and Sith, with each blade carrying its own symbolism and screen history. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
