Best original X-Men members

Cyclops leads the X-Men ranking with 1421 ELO points over 109 duels, ahead of Professor X and Beast.

The top three contenders cluster tightly: only 2 ELO points separate Professor X from Beast at ranks 2 and 3, with both hovering around 1312 ELO points. The sharpest divide appears between ranks 4 and 5, where Iceman outpaces Havok by 110 points despite both being original team members. Cyclops dominates with a 73% win rate, suggesting the community firmly backs Scott Summers as the standout founding member. His tactical mind and optic blasts clearly resonate with voters who value leadership and raw power. At the bottom, Mirage trails at rank 10 with 959 ELO points, indicating that later additions or lesser-known founders struggle to match the appeal of the core lineup. Polaris and Mimic occupy ranks 8 and 9, further illustrating how the original five command greater affection.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
