Best Gladiator classes

Gaul leads the Gladiator ranking with 1319 ELO points over 30 duels, ahead of Retiarius and Secutor.

A 47-point gap separates Gaul from Retiarius at the top, the sharpest divide in the entire ranking. The Gaul's 63% win rate confirms its dominance as the class voters would most likely choose for arena combat. Retiarius, the net-and-trident fighter, holds second place with 1272 ELO points, while Secutor trails at 1248. The podium reflects a preference for versatile or aggressive fighting styles over specialized ones. At the bottom, Paegniarius languishes at 993 ELO points with only a 25% win rate, suggesting voters see little appeal in the comic gladiator's entertainment-focused approach. Essedarius, the chariot fighter, fares only slightly better at 1104 points, indicating that mounted combat holds limited favor when entering the arena.

This ranking draws from 1338 duels submitted by 41 players across 14 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. Each vote pits two gladiator classes head-to-head, forcing voters to decide which they would trust with their lives in the sand. The results reveal a community that values power and adaptability over spectacle. Cast your own vote to shape the ranking and see if your arena instincts align with the crowd, or if you would bet your survival on an underdog class.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
