Best young goku opponents

233 ELO points separate King Piccolo from Mercenary Tao at the top of the Dragon Ball ranking, after 6589 duels.

King Piccolo commands the podium with 1693 ELO points and an 89% win rate, but the chasm below tells a sharper story. Mercenary Tao sits at 1604 points, then a 233-point drop lands on Tambourine at rank 3. That gap dwarfs every other separation in the top five, marking a clear divide between the elite adversaries and the rest of Kid Goku's rogues gallery. Nam and the Pilaf Gang round out the top 5, clustered within 110 points of each other. At the bottom, Piano scrapes rank 20 with just 880 ELO and a 21% win rate, suggesting the community reserves little affection for Demon King henchmen who never threw a meaningful punch.

This ranking draws on 6589 duels cast by 112 players across 20 contenders, updated on 11 October 2026. Whether you revere the terror of King Piccolo's reign or the cold efficiency of Mercenary Tao, the vote remains open. Head to VAINKEURZ, pick your side in the next duel, and shape the leaderboard one choice at a time.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
