Fullmetal Alchemist characters ranking

Roy Mustang leads the Fullmetal Alchemist character ranking with 1547 ELO points over 141 duels, ahead of Scar and Edward Elric.

The Flame Alchemist commands the top spot with a 69-point advantage over Scar in second place, the widest ELO gap in the ranking. Edward Elric, the series protagonist, sits at third with 1470 points, only 8 points behind Scar. Maes Hughes and King Bradley round out the top 5, proving that both heroes and antagonists resonate with voters. At the opposite end, Shou Tucker languishes at the bottom with 904 ELO points and a 30% win rate, a fitting verdict for one of the series' most reviled characters. Yoki and Livia occupy the two spots just above him, suggesting the community reserves its lowest rankings for minor or despised figures.

This ranking draws from 3978 duels involving 59 contenders, with 18 players shaping the results. The data was last updated on 11 October 2026. Roy Mustang's dominance reflects his combination of tactical brilliance, moral complexity and standout moments throughout the series. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
