Best Hunter x Hunter arcs

Chimera Ant wins 73% of its duels and tops the Hunter x Hunter ranking ahead of Yorknew City.

The sharpest divide in the ranking sits between ranks 2 and 3, where 120 ELO points separate Yorknew City from Hunter Exam. That gap exceeds the difference between first and second place, revealing a clear tier break after the top two arcs. The podium captures the series' narrative evolution: Chimera Ant's dominance reflects its sprawling ambition and tonal shift, while Yorknew City's strong second place affirms the appeal of its tighter, more suspenseful structure. Hunter Exam, the gateway to the series, holds third with 1232 ELO. At the bottom, Zoldyck Family sits at rank 8 with 1019 ELO, suggesting the community views the briefer, transitional arcs as less essential to the Hunter x Hunter experience than the longer, more developed story blocks.

This ranking draws from 6851 duels across 8 contenders, shaped by 430 players as of 10 October 2026. The vote remains open: anyone can weigh in on which arc best embodies what makes Togashi's manga compelling, whether it's the psychological depth of Yorknew City, the high-stakes spectacle of Chimera Ant, or the foundational clarity of Hunter Exam. Each duel sharpens the hierarchy and tests whether the longest arcs truly outshine the rest, or if the community will eventually elevate a more compact entry.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
