Best One Piece vice admirals

Monkey D. Garp wins 86% of his duels and tops the One Piece Vice Admiral ranking ahead of Smoker.

Smoker holds second place with 1488 ELO points, but a sharp 135-point gap separates him from third-ranked Jaguar D. Saul. Garp's dominance reflects his legendary status within the series, commanding respect as Luffy's grandfather and the Marine who cornered Gol D. Roger himself. Smoker's solid 75% win rate confirms his appeal among fans who value his moral complexity, his refusal to compromise, and his recurring role as both obstacle and reluctant ally to the Straw Hats. Jaguar D. Saul's third-place finish speaks to the lasting impact of the Ohara flashback, even with limited screen time. Further down, the bottom tier tells a different story: John Giant languishes at rank 14 with 1018 ELO points and a 32% win rate, while Strawberry and Dalmatian hover just above him. The lower ranks suggest that screen time and character depth matter more than military rank alone when readers choose their favorites.

This ranking draws on 9889 duels submitted by 295 players, comparing all 14 Vice Admirals who appear across the manga and anime. Updated on 10 October 2026, it captures how the community weighs narrative weight against pure combat ability. Whether you favor Garp's fatherly chaos, Smoker's relentless pursuit of justice, or Tsuru's quiet authority at rank 5, your vote shapes the list. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
