Ash's Kanto Pokémon ranking

Charmander ► Charmeleon ► Charizard leads the Pokémon ranking with 1363 ELO points over 241 duels, ahead of Pikachu and Squirtle.

The sharpest divide in the ranking sits between Pikachu at #2 and Squirtle at #3, with a 59-point ELO gap separating them. The podium reflects three of Ash's most iconic captures from his Kanto journey, each demonstrating strong performance across hundreds of duels. Squirtle holds third place with 1270 ELO and a 62% win rate over 266 duels, while Snorlax and Lapras tie at 1251 ELO for ranks 4 and 5. At the bottom, Muk languishes with 1013 ELO and a 30% win rate across 216 duels, suggesting the community reserves less affection for Ash's Poison-type catch. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
