Best Live Action anime adaptations

Alice in Borderland leads the Live Action ranking with 1490 ELO points over 50 duels, ahead of One Piece and Death Note.

The podium reveals a clear hierarchy: Alice in Borderland dominates with 1490 ELO and an 82% win rate, while One Piece holds second place at 1407 ELO. The most striking divide appears between ranks 2 and 3, where 135 ELO points separate One Piece from Death Note. Rurouni Kenshin and Kingdom trail closely at 1246 and 1243 ELO respectively, forming a tight cluster in the top 5. At the bottom, Mob Psycho 100 sits at 1003 ELO with a 27% win rate, suggesting the community finds certain manga-to-screen transitions less convincing than others. The Prince of Tennis and Blade of the Immortal occupy the penultimate positions, both struggling to match the appeal of the higher-ranked adaptations.

This ranking draws from 799 duels involving 20 players who compared 15 different live action adaptations. The data reflects community preferences as of 12 October 2026, capturing which productions resonate most with fans of manga and anime. Alice in Borderland's commanding lead, built on only 50 duels compared to Death Note's 80, shows how decisively it wins its matchups. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
