Best shonen anime of all time

One Piece leads the Manga ranking with 1469 ELO points over 189 duels, ahead of Naruto and Hunter x Hunter.

One Piece claims the top spot with a decisive 44-point lead over Naruto, the largest ELO gap in the podium. Hunter x Hunter trails close behind at 1420 ELO, just 5 points shy of second place. The dominance of these three titles comes as no shock given their lasting impact on the genre, but the narrow margins between ranks 2 through 5 reveal a fiercely contested middle ground. Bleach sits at 1412 ELO in fourth, while Haikyu!! rounds out the top 5 at 1411 points. At the opposite end, Blood Lad occupies the bottom position at 992 ELO, while MÄR and Gamaran share rank 73 with identical 1006-point scores. The lower ranks show a community that has clear preferences, leaving less mainstream titles struggling to gain traction.

This ranking draws from 4430 duels across 28 players who weighed in on 75 contenders, reflecting a substantial pool of opinion on the shonen landscape. The data was last updated on 12 October 2026. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
