Best Yu-Gi-Oh series

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters leads the Yu-Gi-Oh ranking with 1466 ELO points over 67 duels, ahead of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.

The original series holds a commanding 97 ELO point advantage over Yu-Gi-Oh! GX in second place, the sharpest gap anywhere in this ranking. No shock there: Duel Monsters set the franchise template and remains the reference point for fans worldwide. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's claims third with 1280 points, establishing itself as the last of the widely celebrated eras. Arc-V sits at fourth with 1256 points, while Zexal rounds out the top 5 at 1231 points, the two separated by just 25 points in a tight midfield battle. At the bottom, the newer entries struggle to find their footing. Yu-Gi-Oh! Vrains holds sixth at 1169 points, but Go Rush!! and Sevens languish at the rear with 941 and 888 points respectively, suggesting the community has yet to embrace the recent direction of the series.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
