Best Pop artists

2660 duels later, Michael Jackson remains #1 in the pop artists ranking with 1363 ELO points, Bruno Mars close behind at 1324.

The top three occupy a tight space: just 44 ELO points separate Michael Jackson from Lady Gaga in third position. But the sharpest drop appears between ranks 4 and 5, where Ariana Grande edges out The Weeknd by 41 points despite her lower win rate of 57%. Michael Jackson's dominance at the summit, winning 64% of his duels, confirms his enduring status as a pop icon. At the other end of the ranking, Prince sits at 1041 ELO points, narrowly behind George Michael and ahead of Justin Timberlake, suggesting the community values contemporary sounds over some legendary figures.

This ranking draws on 2660 duels between 18 contenders, collected from 55 players as of 11 October 2026. Bruno Mars has faced the most matchups with 314 duels, while Prince has contested 248. The sample reflects a clear preference for artists who blend vocal prowess with visual spectacle, though the tight margins in the top five indicate no single style reigns unchallenged. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
