Most beautiful swan species

442 duels later, Trumpeter Swan is still #1 in the Swans ranking, with Whooper Swan close behind at 1257 ELO points.

Trumpeter Swan edges out Whooper Swan by just 2 points at the top, while Whooper Swan and Mute Swan sit dead level at 1257 points, separated only by their win rates of 58 and 56 percent respectively. The sharpest drop in the ranking falls between Mute Swan in third place and Whistling Swan in fourth: 79 ELO points create a clear divide in aesthetic preference. Bewick's Swan follows at 1163 points, then Black Swan at 1154 points despite competing in 34 duels. Black-necked Swan anchors the ranking at 1100 points after 24 duels, revealing that voters consistently favor the classic white plumage of northern species over the darker, more distinctive colorations found further south.

This ranking reflects 442 duels cast by 36 players across 7 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. Trumpeter Swan's victory margin of 67 percent win rate confirms its dominance, though the tight race at the top suggests opinion remains divided among the white swan species. Whether you prefer the massive presence of the Trumpeter, the elegant curve of the Mute, or the striking contrast of the Black, your vote shapes how these species rank. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
