Best season of the year

502 duels later, spring is still #1 in The 4 Seasons ranking, with fall close behind.

Spring leads with 1298 ELO points and a 69% win rate across 65 duels, but the gap to second place reveals a divided community. A stark 70 points separate spring from fall, the widest margin in the ranking. Fall itself holds 1228 ELO points after 75 duels, while winter and summer trail further behind at 1163 and 1111 points respectively. Summer sits at the bottom with just a 40% win rate over 78 duels, suggesting voters favor the transitional seasons over the extremes of heat and cold. The preference for spring and fall points to a community that values moderate weather and visible change over the intensity of summer or the dormancy of winter.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
