Best FRIENDS characters

1511 duels later, Chandler is still #1 in the FRIENDS ranking, with Joey close behind at 1265 ELO points.

The tightest race sits lower down: just 3 ELO points separate Monica in fourth from Rachel in fifth, while the sharpest drop appears between Phoebe and Monica, a 71-point gap that sets the podium apart from the rest. Chandler's dominance at the top reflects his enduring appeal, winning 71% of his duels across 100 matchups, but the real surprise may be Ross anchoring the bottom at rank 6 with only 35% of his encounters won. The paleontologist's last-place finish suggests the community has tired of his neurotic energy, while Phoebe's third-place showing at 1222 ELO points confirms her quirky charm still resonates. Joey edges out Phoebe for the runner-up spot despite a lower win rate, testament to the volume of support he draws.

This ranking draws on 1511 duels submitted by 149 players, all weighing in on the 6 main characters who defined the show. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
