Best Stark direwolves Game of Thrones

Ghost leads the Game of Thrones ranking with 1443 ELO points over 56 duels, ahead of Grey Wind and Nymeria.

Ghost's dominance is striking: 194 ELO points separate Jon Snow's albino companion from Grey Wind in second place, the widest gap in the ranking. That margin reflects Ghost's 84% win rate, a commanding performance that sets it apart from every other Stark direwolf. Grey Wind, Robb's loyal companion, holds second with 1249 points, while Nymeria—Arya's direwolf—secures third at 1222 points. Summer, Bran's protector, follows in fourth with 1137 points and a 42% win rate, while Shaggydog lands in fifth at 1085 points. The bottom of the ranking tells a harsher story: Lady, Sansa's direwolf executed early in the series, sits last with 1065 points and a 35% win rate, a testament to how brief screen time and a tragic fate shape fan memory and voting patterns.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
