Best CS:GO assault rifles

M4A1-S wins 76% of its duels and tops the CS:GO assault rifle ranking ahead of AK-47.

The M4A1-S dominates with 1363 ELO points, opening a 56-point gap over the AK-47 at 1307 points. The M4A4 follows in third place at 1266 ELO, while the AWP holds fourth at 1255 points despite not being a traditional assault rifle. The AUG rounds out the top 5 with 1229 ELO across 36 duels, the highest duel count in the ranking's upper tier. At the bottom, the community has spoken clearly against the auto-snipers: G3SG1 sits last with 1060 ELO points, just behind SCAR-20 at 1065 and SSG 08 at 1076. These weapons struggle to convince players, with win rates stuck at 32% or 33%.

This ranking draws from 919 duels submitted by 37 players across 11 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. The vote reflects live preferences in the CS:GO weapon meta, where the silenced M4 has carved out a commanding lead. Whether you favor precision or spray control, VAINKEURZ invites you to cast your own votes and shape the standings. Each duel you submit shifts the ELO balance and brings the ranking closer to the community's collective judgment.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
