Best Fortnite shotguns

Ranger Shotgun leads the Fortnite shotgun ranking with 1643 ELO points over 189 duels, ahead of Tactical Shotgun and Striker Pump Shotgun.

The gap at the top is decisive: 301 ELO points separate Ranger Shotgun from Tactical Shotgun in second place, the widest margin in the ranking. Ranger Shotgun wins 90% of its duels, a dominance that reflects its efficiency in close combat and its appeal to players seeking consistent damage output. Tactical Shotgun follows at 1342 points with a 63% win rate across 235 duels, while Striker Pump Shotgun claims third place at 1309 points. Below the podium, Combat Shotgun holds fourth with 1273 points, and Drum Shotgun rounds out the top 5 at 1254 points. At the bottom, the Double Barrel Shotgun languishes in 14th place with just 933 ELO points and a 31% win rate across 187 duels, suggesting the Fortnite community has moved on from its high-risk, high-reward mechanics. The Primal Shotgun fares little better at 1012 points, ranked 13th, indicating that older weapon designs struggle against newer entries.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
