Best God of War characters

Kratos wins 93% of his duels and tops the God of War ranking ahead of Mímir.

The Ghost of Sparta dominates with 1524 ELO points, but the gap tells another story. Kratos sits 168 points clear of Mímir, who holds second place at 1356 ELO despite facing 43 duels compared to Kratos's 28. Atreus claims third with 1258 points, barely edging out Freya by a single point at 1257. Baldur rounds out the top 5 at 1210 ELO. The ranking's lower reaches reveal where fan affection drops off: Magni languishes at the bottom with 931 ELO and a 14% win rate across 28 duels, while Modi fares only slightly better at 985 points. Athena sits at rank 9 with 1125 ELO, her 43% win rate placing her firmly in the middle tier.

This ranking draws from 1114 duels submitted by 46 players across 11 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. The sample captures a clear hierarchy among the series' most prominent figures, though the concentration of votes at the top suggests players gravitate toward the central father-son dynamic and its key supporting cast. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
