Best gta protagonists

76 ELO points separate Niko Bellic – GTA IV from CJ / Carl Johnson – GTA San Andreas at the top of the Grand Theft Auto ranking, after 9462 duels.

The gap at the summit reflects a clear preference for GTA IV's tormented immigrant over San Andreas's gang-affiliated climber, with Niko holding 1450 ELO against CJ's 1374. Franklin Clinton – GTA V completes the podium at 1341 ELO, edging out his two GTA V counterparts: Michael De Santa ranks fourth and Trevor Philips fifth, despite both registering a 62% win rate. The bottom three positions reveal the franchise's lesser-known entries struggling for recognition. Huang Lee – Chinatown Wars sits last with 951 ELO and a 27% win rate, while Luis Fernando Lopez – The Ballad of Gay Tony (GTA IV) and Victor Vance – Vice City Stories occupy the two spots above him, suggesting that expansion pack and handheld protagonists fail to match the impact of main-game leads.

This ranking draws on 9462 duels submitted by 359 players, comparing all 12 contenders from the franchise's history. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
