Best Mario Kart 8 Deluxe items

Crazy Eight leads the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe item ranking with 1407 ELO points over 157 duels, ahead of Bullet Bill and Golden Mushroom.

A 43-point gap separates Crazy Eight from Bullet Bill at the top, the widest margin in the ranking. The all-in-one item delivers eight weapons at once and wins 71% of its matchups, making it the clear favorite for aggressive play. Triple Red Shell holds fourth place with 1318 ELO, while Lightning rounds out the top 5 at 1308 points. At the opposite end, the Coin sits at the bottom with just 908 ELO and a 22% win rate, confirming what players already suspected: nobody wants to pull a Coin when hunting for a weapon. Green Shell and Blooper occupy ranks 22 and 21 respectively, suggesting that ink-based disruption and ricocheting projectiles fail to impress when compared to more direct offensive tools.

This ranking draws from 2178 duels submitted by 25 players across 23 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. Whether you favor the versatility of the Crazy Eight or the raw speed boost of the Bullet Bill, your vote shapes the leaderboard. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
