Best Minecraft swords

784 duels later, Diamond still claims the top spot in the Minecraft best-looking sword ranking, with Netherite trailing by just 27 ELO points.

The tightest battle sits at the top: Diamond holds first place with 436344 ELO points, but Netherite presses close behind at 436317. Despite its reputation as the strongest material in the game, Netherite cannot shake Diamond's visual appeal. The real fracture appears below them. A gap of 179 ELO points separates Netherite from Gold in third, the sharpest divide in the ranking. Gold's bronze medal position surprises, given its notorious fragility in gameplay, yet players favor its gleam over more practical options. Beyond the premium materials, the mid-tier options cluster together. Iron at 436055 and Stone at 436010 sit within 45 points of each other, while Wood anchors the bottom at 435927. The community draws a clear line between elite blades and starter equipment, though the gap between Stone and Wood remains modest at 83 points.

This ranking reflects 784 duels judged by 86 players across 6 contenders, last updated on 11 October 2026. The Diamond versus Netherite rivalry remains unresolved, separated by a margin thin enough to shift with a handful of votes. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
