Best Minecraft wood types

Spruce Wood wins 68% of its duels and tops the Minecraft wood ranking ahead of Oak Wood.

The 39 ELO points separating Spruce Wood from Oak Wood confirm a clear preference among players, though both maintain strong positions at the summit. Oak Wood, with 1285 points and a 59% win rate across 99 duels, remains a solid runner-up. Dark Oak Wood secures third place with 1267 points after 101 duels, proving its appeal among builders who favor darker tones. Yet the sharpest divide sits between Dark Oak Wood and Birch Wood, with a gap of 110 ELO points marking the boundary between the community's favored options and those that struggle to gain traction. Birch Wood registers 1157 points with a 43% win rate, while Jungle Wood follows at 1087 points. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
