Hardest Minecraft bosses

125 duels later, Warden is still #1 in the Minecraft hardest boss ranking, with Wither close behind at 1263 ELO points.

Warden dominates with 1361 ELO points and a 74% win rate across 54 duels, establishing a 98-point lead over Wither in second place. The podium is rounded out by Ender Dragon at 1204 points, but the most striking divide appears just below: a 232-point chasm separates Ender Dragon from Elder Guardian, whose 15% win rate places it firmly at the bottom. This gap suggests the community draws a clear line between the game's elite challenges and the rest. Elder Guardian, despite its in-game reputation, struggles to match the threat level of the top three in player perception.

This ranking draws from 125 duels involving 25 players across 4 contenders, updated on 12 October 2026. The data captures how Minecraft players weigh difficulty: raw damage output, accessibility, and the preparation each encounter demands. Warden's combination of devastating melee attacks and its ability to appear unexpectedly in the Deep Dark gives it an edge that even the game's traditional final bosses cannot match. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
