Best Pokémon gym leaders

Skyla B2W2 leads the Pokémon Gym Leader/Trial Captain/Kahuna ranking with 1379 ELO points over 255 duels, ahead of Brock and Mallow.

Brock edges out Mallow by 27 ELO points, the sharpest gap in the top three. Skyla B2W2 sits at the summit with 1379 points, narrowly ahead of Brock's 1370, while Blue and Sabrina complete the top five. The narrow margins at the top suggest fierce competition among the community's favorites, with Sabrina's 61% win rate underlining her consistency across 224 duels. At the opposite end, Chaz languishes at rank 90 with 987 points and a 36% win rate, trailing Chuck and Acerola. The bottom tier reveals which Gym Leaders and Trial Captains failed to capture the community's enthusiasm, with a gap of 341 points separating last place from the top.

How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
