Best Mario mushrooms

Mega Mushroom leads the Mario ranking with 1298 ELO points over 2732 duels, ahead of Super Acorn and Propeller Mushroom.

The tightest battle sits just below the podium, where a 19-point gap separates Propeller Mushroom from Boo Mushroom at ranks 3 and 4. Super Acorn claims second place with 1289 ELO, trailing the leader by just 9 points despite facing 3081 duels. Mega Mushroom wins 62% of its matchups, while Propeller Mushroom maintains a similar 61% win rate from third position. At the bottom, Poison Mushroom languishes at rank 13 with 969 ELO and a 39% win rate, suggesting the community has little love for Mario's most notorious hazard. The 1-Up Mushroom, iconic for granting extra lives, sits unexpectedly low at rank 11 with 1153 ELO. Boo Mushroom and Bee Mushroom round out the top 5 with 1258 and 1239 ELO respectively.

This ranking draws on 20435 duels fought by 579 players across 13 contenders, last updated on 10 October 2026. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
