Best classic Halloween monsters

24 ELO points separate Witch from Ghost at the top of the Halloween ranking, after 1794 duels.

Witch claims the top spot with 1360 ELO points, winning 67% of its 121 duels. Ghost follows at 1336 points with a 60% win rate, while Vampire secures third place at 1283 points. The real fracture lies between ranks 3 and 4: a 100-point gap pushes Vampire ahead of Frankenstein, marking the sharpest divide in the ranking. Frankenstein, despite its storied legacy, barely edges out Zombie by 10 points. At the bottom, Devil struggles with just 34% of duels won, trailing Mummy and Demon. The community clearly favors the archetypal figures of folklore over Hollywood's creations.

This ranking draws from 1794 duels cast by 100 players across 9 contenders, updated on 11 October 2026. The data reflects a clear hierarchy: witches and ghosts dominate the cultural imagination, while devils and mummies fade into the background. How this ranking is computed

Every duel won lifts a contender and every loss drops them, by an amount that depends on the opponent's strength: beating the leader is worth more than beating the last. It is an ELO, the same principle as in chess. Duels are not drawn at random — an adaptive entropy sort puts the least predictable match-ups first, which settles the ranking far faster than a full round robin. A worldwide ranking is only published past 30 completed plays. Known limit: a contender who has faced few opponents keeps an approximate score, and the bottom of the table moves more than the podium.
